The Kinesio Taping Method at the Solid Sports Clinic

The Kinesio Taping® Method has taken the Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine world by storm. This amazing taping method was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase over 25 years ago in Japan. Kinesio Taping® has quickly become the gold, or should we say "platinum" standard, for therapeutic rehabilitative taping. The proprietary method of taping uses a uniquely designed and patented tape for treatment of muscular disorders and lymphedema reduction.

The Kinesio Taping® Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction. The first technique gives the practitioner the opportunity to actually give support while maintaining full range of motion. This enables the individual to participate in their normal physical activity with functional assistance. The second technique, which is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation, helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps provide facilitation of lymph flow for an entire 24 hour period. Correctional techniques include mechanical, lymphatic, ligament/tendon, fascia, space and functional. Kinesio Tex® Tape can be used in conjunction with other therapies, including cryotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and electrictrotherapy

Kinesio Taping® affects the activation of the neurological system, the body's information processor and the circulatory system. Muscles are not only attributed to the movements of the body, but they also control the circulation of venous and lymph flows, body temperature, etc. Therefore, the failure of the muscles to function properly induces various kinds of symptoms. Consequently, more attention was given to the importance of muscle function, that the idea of treating the muscles in order to activate the body's own healing process came about. Using an elastic tape, such as Kinesio Tex® Tape, it was discovered that muscles and other tissues could be helped by outside assistance. Employment of Kinesio Taping® creates a completely new and innovative approach to treating nerves, muscles and organs.

So thats the official short version of what Kinesio Taping Method is.I did the kinesio taping course Module 1 to 3 in a marathon session. It is a fantastic rehabilitation tool. I still can't believe how well it works to correct biomechanical problems like rotator cuff syndrome and lower back pain. The biggest benefit to anyone who exercises is that it allows you to return to activity sooner and in the long term your trainers can keep working on postural correction. Oh and it comes in hot pink

What is Powerplate?

Acceleration Training with Power plate creates instability in the human body, as with each vibration the body is forced to perform reflexive muscle actions, 25 to 50 times per second. These contractions must work in multiple dimensions as the Power Plate actually oscillate in all 3 planes, exactly as the human body is designed to do. The net result is an incredible improvement in force production, or strength and power.

The principle by which Power Plate machines work lies in the law of motion, states be Sir Isaac Newton: that the force of an object is equal to it's mass multiplied by acceleration. What this means is that one can improve the functional force (stability, strength or power) by either applying more mass or more acceleration to the body. Many forms of training and conditioning use mass- as seen in methods with weight machines, free weights, etc. Power Plate, instead, use the second half of this equation, by applying acceleration to the body, while keeping mass ie, your body weight the same.

This is a real breakthrough in training and conditioning as we can now optimally "load" the human frame while minimizing high impact, high load, and high stress factors. Gravity is the force that ads load to the body every second of every day for every moment we perform. Through Acceleration Training exercise, Power Plate makes the body feel as though it "weighs" more every time acceleration forces increase.

The result is that you work against a far greater influence or "load" of gravity in every movement you perform. This is the essence of all strength and conditioning programs and Power Plate simply use a different part of the same equation to achieve this! In fact, the amazing outcomes seen with Acceleration Training exercise respect the same biological and physiological laws of the body as witnessed in other forms of training. The difference is merely the nature of the stimulus applied 1e. acceleration, and not the human response.

Did you get that?:) Good!! Now come down to our Sports Clinic and see it to believe it!:)
